Focus and Core Values
There is a focus that shapes the direction of ministry at Crosspointe
Community Church - LCMS. Although seven “core statements” are herein
described, it is recognized that many others could be listed. These seven
statements contain matters of substance which are Biblical in character.
As our adopted Ministry Focus they also reflect matters of style and
practical concerns as well.
The Word of God is central…
The proclamation of the Word of God is the authority for our statement of
faith, our conduct, our belief and our lives. The Word of God stands as
the reference for the faith and life of every Christian. Reading, studying
and applying Scripture is, and should be the “mortar” with which we build
all of our ministries.
Jesus Christ is preeminent…
Crosspointe Community Church - LCMS is a body of believers who gives all
glory and honor to Jesus Christ as the Son of God and as the crucified and
risen Savior of the world. This implies, among other things, a commitment
to a personal relationship with Him, and our proclaiming, in both word and
deed, the Good News found in Him alone. Each believer has a call, and is
responsible for sharing a witness to God’s grace in their life. Likewise,
the entire congregation is called and has a responsibility to share this
witness with the lost of our communities.
We believe people matter most to God…
Because God has called mankind His most precious creation, we believe that
His Church ought to be about the business of establishing relationships
with people that offer a true expression of God’s love for the world. This
translates into the respect of the dignity of mankind who was created in
the image of God, and for whom, through unconditional love, He gave such
the great sacrifice of His Son - Jesus Christ. As a reflection of God’s
image, the people of Crosspointe Community Church - LCMS express God’s
love for our brothers and sisters within all humanity in the true humility
of a servant’s heart through both word and deed, being filled with
Christ’s Spirit of gentleness, kindness, forgiveness, mercy and
acceptance.
We practice unity amidst diversity, and the ministry of all believers…
We are each a unique creation of God, gifted by the Holy Spirit, to be
Christ’s Church on earth. At the same time there is unity in faith, a
common experience of grace, and a shared vision for His Church that draws
us together as one community of believers. Every member of the
congregation has a place of service in the fellowship. Therefore, each
member should prayerfully seek the Spirit’s leading, examine their
possible gifts and be used by the Lord accordingly. Likewise, the whole
congregation should identify areas in which its congregational abilities
lie and thus seek how to best utilize those gifts, talents and resources
God has provided.
We provide an intentional witness…
At Crosspointe Community Church - LCMS we are wholly committed and
specifically purpose to reach the un-churched as well as those who have no
relationship with Jesus Christ at all. We purpose to be sensitive to the
Lord’s leading as He brings people – those who would be “seekers” of Him -
into our sphere of influence for His kingdom’s sake. In the same manner we
recognize that though our actions are always inclined to express the love
and care of God, it is the Spirit, working through the Living Word, who
brings the harvest. Thus, via the Spirit’s prompting, we proactively seek
every opportunity to verbally share the message of God’s love in Christ
Jesus. We make every effort, through the Spirit’s leading, to offer
ministries that meet the needs of our community and the people therein,
according to the gifts and the resources God has provided for in our
midst. We also purpose to provide an atmosphere that is contemporary and
inviting, which opens up opportunities to verbally share the Good News of
Jesus Christ. To those who have left the Christian fellowship but are
seeking to re-establish their relationship with God and His people, we
offer love and forgiveness and an opportunity to renew their relationship
with the Lord and His Church, yet without compromise.
We allow the freedom to fail…
In order to meet the needs of people in today’s society, we must offer a
variety of ministries. In order to reach the contemporary generation, new
methods must be attempted and employed. In order to involve people with a
wide variety of gifts, abilities and interests in ministry, many avenues
of service must be explored. The freedom to minister in this environment
implies that there must also be allowances for possible failures. When
failures come, we do not dwell on them but learn from them and strive to
promote encouragement to move on towards future success, through the grace
and leading of the Lord and with a commitment towards assistance to
progress.
We must have a commitment to growth!
Crosspointe Community Church - LCMS must be a community of believers who
are committed to growth! We must grow in quality of life with Jesus, and
quantity of numbers within the fellowship. People will be added as God
wills. Lives will be changed as God empowers. As we rejoice over these
aspects of our Christian community we must always recognize our labors are
never finished, for our ministry must continue to focus upon those who do
not have that faith relationship with Jesus Christ. This requires a
forward looking, progressive approach to life and ministry.
