Sheila Sargent
Children's Ministries Coordinator

I am the fifth child in a family of six children. My mother was a singer in a band called the "Southerneers" and my father played the bass. They played on the same stage as Johnny Cash but due to responsibilities in rearing six children they were never able to make a go of it. To this day, music is a big part of our family. I grew up poor by most standards but never knew it. When times got tough and money was tight, my mother would bake pies and we kids would sell them to the neighbors. I grew up in Maineville, Ohio and graduated from Little Miami High School. I moved out on my own when I was 18 and got married when I was 20 years old to my high school sweetheart. We moved to Louisville, Kentucky, had one child, Ashley, and got divorced soon after she was born. While in Louisville, I went to college and completed 3 years towards a Bachelors Degree in Marketing from Bellarmine College. It was in Louisville where I met Tom (my hero). We have been best friends for all these years. He is always there to give sound advice and, if needed, a shoulder to cry on. It hasn’t been easy being a single parent but by the grace of God, I have been able to purchase a house and live within my meager means. My daughter and I have a love of animals and share our house with several cats and a dog named Abby. Music is alive in our house so much so that we dedicated a room to music. Both Ashley and I enjoy singing and you will find us singing in the Inside/Out praise band and the church praise band here at Crosspointe.
